RULES

  1. All “Doubles” must consist of one “GREEN” Bowler, age 29 or younger and one “GOLD” Bowler age 30 or older based on ages as of December 31st, 2024.  There must be a minimum of 6 full years’ difference in ages of the two bowlers.  For the committee to verify the age difference, “Age & Birth date” must be indicated on the entry form.  No Entries under the age of 16 will be accepted.

  2. This is a handicap event based on a scratch of 550.  An 80% handicap will be used with no maximum.

  3. Highest current year league average must be used as of midnight, March 9th, 2025 (this includes regular and substitution averages from leagues with 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 player teams – bowling 3 or more games).  All averages will be based on a minimum of 21 games.  In the event a bowler does not meet the qualification of having bowled a minimum of 21 league games in the current year, the bowlers’ current year Masters Bowling Association average can be used in lieu using the same 21 game minimum criteria.

  4. The “10-point drop” rule is in effect for averages that are 10 or more pins less than the previous season ending average (e.g. 2024/2025 current season average is 222 and 2023/2024 season ending average is 245, an average of 235 must be used).

  5. Each bowler’s tournament average will be determined as the higher of the following:

    1. 10% of the tournament average from two years prior (if applicable), 20% of the tournament average from one year prior (if applicable), with the remaining percentage from the current year’s highest league or Masters average, or

    2. current year’s highest league average or Masters average; whichever one was submitted.

  6. To pay out prize money immediately following bowling on Sunday, any disputes as to ages or averages must be brought to the attention of the Tournament committee no later than 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26th.

  7. Falsification of ages or averages will result in the forfeiture of entry fees and prize money and suspension from the Green & Gold Tournament for the following year.

  8. Twelve (12) game total pinfall plus handicap will determine the winners.

  9. In the event of a tie for first place, a one game roll off, total pinfall with handicap, will determine the winner.  The prize money will be combined and split in the event of any other ties.

  10. All entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  An entry is not validated until the entry fee is paid and a league average sheet submitted with the entry.  Entries received after the available 96 spots shall go on a waiting list in the order received.

  11. The entry fee is $240.00 per team.  This includes lineage, prize money and minimal administrative expenses (see tournament payout).

  12. The Tournament will follow all playing Rules and Regulations for string machines of the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association.

  13. The Tournament Committee, Don MacIver, Blair Tuck, Brett Wren, and Marisa Jeffcott will rule on any discrepancies and their decision will be final.
