RULES
-
All Doubles teams must consist of one GREEN bowler aged 29 or younger and one GOLD bowler aged 30 or older, based on the bowler’s age as of December 31, 2025. There must be a minimum age difference of six (6) full years between the two bowlers. To allow the committee to verify eligibility, age and birth date must be provided on the entry form. No entries will be accepted for bowlers under the age of 16.
-
This is a handicap tournament based on a scratch score of 550, using 80% handicap with no maximum limit.
-
Each bowler must use their highest current-year league average as of 11:59 p.m. on March 8, 2026. This includes regular and substitute averages from leagues consisting of 2 to 6 players per team, provided the bowler has completed three (3) or more games. All averages must be based on a minimum of 21 games.
If a bowler has not completed the required 21 league games in the current season, their current-year Masters Bowling Association average may be used instead, provided it also meets the 21-game minimum. -
The “10-pin drop” rule will apply. If a bowler’s current-year average is 10 pins or more lower than their previous season-ending average, an adjusted average will be used.
Example: If a bowler’s 2025–2026 current average is 222 and their 2024–2025 season-ending average was 245, an average of 235 will be used. -
Each bowler’s tournament average will be determined as the higher of the following:
-
a. A weighted average consisting of 10% of the tournament average from two years prior (if applicable), 20% from one year prior (if applicable), and the remaining percentage from the current year’s highest league or Masters average, or
-
b. The bowler’s current year highest league or Masters average, as submitted.
-
-
In order to allow for immediate prize payouts following bowling on Sunday, any disputes regarding ages or averages must be submitted to the Tournament Committee no later than 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
-
Any falsification of age or average information will result in the forfeiture of entry fees and prize money, as well as suspension from the Green & Gold Tournament for the following year.
-
Final standings will be determined by total pinfall plus handicap over twelve (12) games.
-
In the event of a tie for first place, a one-game roll-off (total pinfall plus handicap) will determine the winner. For all other ties, prize money will be combined and split evenly.
-
All entries must be submitted online and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment must be received within one (1) week of submitting an entry (half payment for an entry will not be sufficient to hold your spot). Entries not paid within this timeframe will be moved to the waitlist, if applicable, and the next team on the waitlist will be offered the available spot.
Payment may be made in cash at the centre or by e-transfer to ggdoublestournament@gmail.com. An entry is not confirmed until payment is received. Once the 96 available spots are filled, all additional entries will be placed on a waitlist in the order received. -
The entry fee is $240.00 per team, which includes lineage, prize money, and minimal administrative expenses (see tournament payout information).
-
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with all Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association rules and regulations for string machines.
-
The Tournament Committee—Don MacIver, Brett Wren, and Marisa Jeffcott—will rule on any discrepancies, and all decisions are final.
